Hyphenated Americans: comparing past and present at a reunion of Japanese-American WWII soldiers

Article Abstract:

The Japanese-American soldiers who served in the Army's 442nd Regiment Combat Team during World War II were culled from the internment camps to which they were ordered after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. Muslim leaders who met with Sen. Dan Inouye were assured by him that the mood of the country was more gentle than the mood after Pearl Harbor, and other veterans are reluctant to compare what happened to them with the current treatment of Arab-Americans.
