What public citizens can do about the Y2K crisis

Ordinary citizens can help mitigate the potential disastrous effects of the Y2K computer date bug by spreading information regarding the problem. As most companies are preoccupied with tackling the technical aspects of the problem, the citizens may lead or assist in organizing emergency services.
