'I love old glory.' (American Legion's 79th national convention in Orlando, Florida)

The 79th American Legion National Convention in Orlando, Florida was a well-attended event that gave tribute to the heroism of US war veterans. One of the highlights of the convention was the awarding of the Distinguished Service Award to presidential contender Bob Dole.

Legion commemorates 1st National Convention

Article Abstract:

In 1999 the American Legion commemorated its 1st National Convention held in November 1919 in Minneapolis, MN. National Commander Al Lance revisited the site of the 1st Convention and attended a banquet during which historical letters were read.

Legion honors younger versions of us

An account is presented of the 82nd national convention of the American Legion. Milwaukee hosted the event, which was attended by 6,000 delegates. Speeches included those by presidential candidate George W. Bush.
