Cladistic analysis reveals that Fuxianhuia is not a basal euarthropod, but the earliest known arachnomorph. The assertion that Fuxianhuia is a basal euarthropod was based on making premature assumptions about the order in which characters were acquired or by giving too much weight to these features.
