Digital scanners are sleek, compact and convert paper photos, negatives, slides, books, magazines and documents into digital files, which are transferred on to the computer for editing, email or storing. The contact image sensor (CIS) is used to store magazines, articles, recipes and lower resolution photos on the computer while a charge-coupled device (CCD) is used to edit or restore family snapshots for more vibrant results.
