L.A. Underground: Today's tunnel diggers carry on a tradition--and leave a legacy
Article Abstract:
Tunnel diggers have a long and rich history in America dating back to the days of the construction of the Midtown Tunnel in New York City circa 1939. This tradition is continuing and is looked at through a planned project in Los Angeles where tunnel diggers are hard at work on the initial phases of the city's Metro Rail. The stories of these tunnelers are shared, along with the demands of this type of work.
