Lifesaving lessons: Battlefield and civilian trauma-care professionals interchange cutting-edge treatments

Article Abstract:

New philosophies and new techniques help in healing the trauma that occurs on the battlefield or in the civilian arena, with the aim being to save the lives by stabilizing the patients. Stopping bleeding quickly means that the patient has a chance to survive, and it is so critical that it has developed a new approach in how intravenous fluids are administered.

Diets of a different color: Traditional fare of fruits and vegetables need better color balance

Researchers state that eating fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin A and C, betacarotene and fiber, reduces the risk of chronic diseases. Dr. Susie Nanney, assistant professor in the Obesity Prevention Center at St. Louis University and a dietitian suggests adding color to pack nutritional power in diet.

People who develop asthma as children may have different disease than those who develop it as an adult. The severe asthma patients are divided into four subsets based on age of onset and presence or absence of eosinophils.
