New hope for depression: the fact, the fiction, and the light at the end of the tunnel

A clinical psychologist describes her bout with depression. Depression may be caused by certain events in life, genetics, biochemistry, sensitivity to light or an inability to cope. Psychotherapy, antidepressants, and mood-stabilizing drugs are some of the treatments for depression.
