One wing and a prayer

Article Abstract:

A girl nursed back to good health an injured mourning dove. The bird, named Olive, could never fly again for one of her wings was severed at the shoulder by a stomping cow. Nevertheless, she brought joy around the house and laid so many eggs that made the girl win first prize at the school fair.
