Ration-al thinking: the military's combat-ready cuisine gives new meaning to road food

Article Abstract:

Military rations are nutritious, varied and tasty now, unlike during World War II. The Army devotes much time to research to create the foods, some of which are requested by personnel. The specifications for military ready-to-eat meals are described.

Fear of frying

Article Abstract:

Many Americans are reluctant to eat fried foods because they believe it is unhealthy. Frying oil is meant to cook food, not add flavor to the food. Tips for frying food and recipes for fried shuimp, parmesan puffs and fried peach pies are given.
