Scenes from a marriage: observations on the Daimler-Chrysler merger from a German living in America

Article Abstract:

The Chrysler business division of DaimlerChrysler AG is not doing well, and an analysis of the company since the merger pinpoints the reasons for the division's decline. Part of the problems are attributed to the different business cultures of the two companies, and poor management decisions on the part of Chrysler managers.

Erich Mielke created the much feared secret police of the former German Democratic Republic. He encouraged people to spy on each other and had a suspicious nature that made his job more difficult. His legacy on Germany society is examined.
