Should the Congress cancel the deficit reduction agreement?

Article Abstract:

The US Congress signed a comprehensive deficit reduction agreement in Oct 1990 which resulted in additional taxes with no real budget cuts. On the other hand, current government streamlining plans aim to strengthen the US economy without abandoning the program.

Federal funding for the arts

The opposing views of two representatives of the United States, Rep. Louise Slaughter and Rep. Cliff Stearns, regarding federal funding of arts are discussed. Art plays an important role in the culture and military history of the United States.

Texas representative Tom DeLay feels that the government should not fund the National Endowment for the Arts as it presents work which can be offensive. Louise Slaughter from New York supports the organisation as it provides employment.
