Product Liability Exposure of the Government Contractor and Subcontractor

Article Abstract:

Examples of product liability exposure of government contractors are given. Details on the defense that is used and the indemnification awarded are included. Contractors usually deny any liability in cases and post cross- indemnification charges against the government. Government contract defense entails government-established contract specifications, contractor compliance with material specifications and equal government and contractor knowledge about the hazards involved. Special insurance policies for performance of a specific contract can be used to shift risk. Legislation proposals are outlined which would allow reduction of contractor liability for damages to third parties from products supplied to the government.

Cardiac patients' mental representations of diet

Article Abstract:

Diet is critical to the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). The outcomes of diet therapy vary from patient to patient because each of them have different representations of illness, that, in turn, influence dietary behavior. Research suggests that cardiac patients' personal dietary guidelines and beliefs strongly influence long-term outcomes of diet therapy. Illness representations may vary from very rigid to flexible. Nutrition educators should use this information to develop dietary programs for cardiac patients.
