Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of the 1981 murder of policeman Daniel Foster in Philadelphia, PA. Abu-Jamal's essays on the injustice he alleges to have suffered from have aroused the sympathy of people such as authors William Styron and E.L. Doctorow.

The family factor

Education seems to be deteriorating in various public schools as shown by the students' low grades. This should be attributed to the school children's lack of family support and not just to economic difficulties.
