Article Abstract:

The historic Bullock's department store building on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles opened two months before the stock market crash of December, 1929. It's eclectic architectural design, encompassing styles ranging from Art Deco to California-casual, contributed to its reception as a "Contemporary Cathedral of Commerce."

Santiago Calatrava's high-flung transportation facilities such as the Valencia, Spain airport, are the setting for a pictorial of fall men's fashions. Analysis and depiction of eight other Calatrava designs, including his new Milwaukee, WI, art museum, is included.
