The future of farming: Outsmarting GM: Researchers say it's time to "smart-breed" our way to a juicer tomato

Article Abstract:

A new technique called smart breeding is being developed by scientists and researchers, which will assist in improving the crops without inserting genes from other organisms, thus putting the future of genetic modification (GM) in danger. Smart breeders apply precise genetic mapping to the ancient technique of crossbreeding, which helps in bringing out the hidden traits or characteristics and gives crops as per the required traits.
