The king of Kingfield, Maine

Article Abstract:

Folks in Kingfield, ME, in the 1920's were pretty much at the mercy of H.S. Wing, who owned the town electric company, bank, water company, insurance company, mill and hotel. He would turn off the electricity when he was mad at the town's tax assessors or when he thought people should be in bed.
