A writer relates an incident where emergency teams came to his rescue when he stuck his arm through a crack while trying to retrieve a pair of glasses. It was an embarrassing situation that could have been avoided if he tried another method to retrieve them.

Many intelligent individuals who have poor sense of direction use different techniques to keep from getting lost. These include using the direction of the sun, memorizing landmarks and staying on familiar territory.
