The one who stayed: when other relief workers fled Afghanistan in fear of their lives, John Weaver remained to finish what he had started

Article Abstract:

Weaver went to Afghanistan as a foreign-aid worker for the Christian organization Shelter Now International. He chose to remain in the country when the U.S. began bombing in retaliation for the Taleban's sheltering of Osama bin Laden. Weaver discusses his hopes to establish an English-language school in Afghanistan.

A dweller in the New Jersey suburbs describes his family's transition from living in New York City. The change was difficult at first, but gradually there was an acceptance, and even appreciation, of the suburbs.
