Yard sales are appealing because they offer the chance to make thrifty purchases. People tend to have fond associations with items bought at yard sales, such as remembering the owner who sold a particular item. People who frequent yard sales inevitably end up holding their own sales.

Shad day

Shad Day has become an annual event for a woman and some friends, usually in late spring. A trip down to the Connecticut River to buy the tasty fish, some for that day and more to freeze for later on, has become an anticipated harbinger of the season.
