President Clinton, and both presidential candidates running in 2000, are members of the baby boom generation, while the vice presidential candidates are from an earlier generation that has not produced a president.

Fragmented we stand: the call has gone out to come together as Americans. But we're out of practice, and the effort may be painful

Article Abstract:

Since the Sep 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, people have made the appearance of coming together, but the creation of a truly cohesive society will be difficult. People are used to being able to express their individuality and create their own identity. As efforts to join together are made, it is hoped that indifference will fade, but tolerance will not.
