Coupon project raises money to fight blindness

The American Legion is cooperating with Kellogg Co to raise money for retinitis pigmentosa research. Kellogg has agreed to donate to the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation and contribute to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation based on the number of company coupons collected for the program.

West, VA budget headed in wrong direction

The latest administration budget has yet again excluded the needs of veterans from its budget priorities for 2000. The Veterans Affairs Dept has even requested for $963 million to finance urgent medical initiatives, including $700 to treat an increasing number of Hepatitis C cases among veterans.

Raymond Jones' dignified departure

The American Legion extended both moral and financial support to Vietnam veteran Raymond Jones. Jones was initially given a pension of only $31 per month, but the Legion raise his pension and to cover his treatment gave back Jones' dignity as a person and as a soldier.
