Overconsumption of resources in industrial countries: the other missing agenda

Article Abstract:

Population growth is a major conservation problem, but overconsumption by individuals in industrialized countries is equally destructive to the ecology. An American family of 4 has the same environmental impact as 80 Costa Ricans and 280 Bangladeshis. Dramatization of the problem is difficult because it is an unpopular topic and lacks the visual impact of famine.

Who stole the Oscars?

Junkman Willie Fulgear became a celebrity in 2000 when he discovered the stolen Oscar statuettes in a Los Angeles dumpster. Since then, his $50,000 reward money has been stolen, the press have questioned his story and he claims to have been harassed by the police. The story of the stolen consignment is related.
