An Indy winner, by gum

Fred Frame of Exeter, NH, became the only New Englander to win the Indianapolis 500 in 1932. His mechanic smeared a pack of chewed gum under the radiator cap to prevent water from gushing out, a problem that would have caused him to quit the race.
