David M. Walker: Seventh Comptroller General of the United States: The conclusion to a three-part series

Article Abstract:

David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, and chief of the Government Accountability Office (GAO,) discusses his term as comptroller general from 1998 and still continuing in 2006. Walker has continued to transform the GAO through comprehensive strategic planning to address issues important to government and America in the 21st century, thereby focusing on both the current and long-range needs of Congress.

Charles A. Bowsher (1981-1996)

Article Abstract:

Charles A Bowsher, the sixth Comptroller General of the United States, who headed the Government Accountability Office (GAO) from 1981 to 1996 continued to expand the breadth of GAO services, while focusing on improving the financial management and accountability of the federal government. His 15-year term as comptroller general is discussed.
