Defeat at home? Issue-ownership and social democratic support in Scandinavia

Article Abstract:

The current situation of social democratic parties that must be understood through the growing importance of issue-rather than class-based voting and the ways in which new political issues affect the strategic environment are discussed. The study show that looking at questions about political agenda-setting and issue ownership is a promising way to understand variations in social democratic electoral support in Scandinavia.

Governing elites, external events and pro-democratic opposition in Hong Kong (1986-2002)

Article Abstract:

The outcome of Hong Kong's democratization can be interpreted as a result of bargaining among different forces and other related factors between 1986 and 2000. The relationship between the civil and political society is regarded as crucial to the mobilization power and influence of pro-democratic opposition.
