Efficiency measurement in network industries: application to the Swiss railway companies

Article Abstract:

Switzerland's railroads receive substantial amount of government subsidies, prompting the government to contemplate cost efficiency regulatory measures. However, there are many factors, which could distort the efficiency estimates. A method of using multiple data models for measuring cost efficiency of network industries like the Switzerland's railroads is presented.

Curbing global warming the easy way: an alternative to the Kyoto Protocol

Global warming poses ecological risks and presents numerous hurdles to international enviromental agreement. Marco Verweij believes that, the Kyoto Protocol must be replaced by an alternative set of domestic and international policies, in order to curb global warming.
