Article Abstract:

Els Cooperrider, a Ph.D zoologist staying in Mendocino county, succeeded in banning the genetically modified organisms (GMOs)- a prohibition on biotech crops even though none were raised in the county. Activists in 14 California counties are pushing bans on genetically modified organisms but still the genetically altered crops are on the rise.

Balloting with unintended consequences

Article Abstract:

The two-thirds vote to pass a state budget in California dates back to an obscure constitutional amendment passed in a 1933 special election. It is considered as one of the most significant and unintended consequences in the history of state ballot measures.
