From 'Normal Incidents' to political crises: Understanding the selective politicization of policy failures

Article Abstract:

An effort is made to illustrate the behavior of the political leaders when they are confronted with critical situations. Several studies of how critical situation, accidents and incidents lead to blame games, various political accounts of crisis management, and studies documenting the links between policy failures and radical policy change are discussed.

South Africa's political futures

Article Abstract:

The wide variety of opinion and the profound interderminacies that has licensed further speculation about South Africa's future are explored. The reliability of the mechanisms by which an electorally dominant African National Congress government might be rendered politically accountable over the next decade and beyond is assessed.

Labour politics and democratic transition in South Korea and Taiwan

The field of labour politics is one under-researched aspect of the recent literature on democratization. The argument that, labour politics does not matter those interested in democratic stability is illustrated with the cases of South Korea and Taiwan.
