Geography and the Internet: is the Internet a substitute or a complement for cities?

Article Abstract:

The larger markets have more locally-targeted online content and so the individuals are more likely to connect in markets with more online content, which suggest that Internet is a complement to cities. Holding local online content constant, people are less likely to connect in larger markets, indicating that Internet is also a substitute for cities.

Urban growth controls: transitional dynamics of development fees and growth boundaries

Article Abstract:

The process of controlling urban expansion by means of urban growth boundaries (UGBs) and development fees or taxes, is examined. From a dynamic angle, a basic variation is observed between the implementation of the two schemes, with development fees slowing down urban growth more effectively than UGBs.
