Article Abstract:

Minimum wages can positively affect labor allocation in firms where the marginal prodct of skilled labor is shared with workers. It forces workers to acquire more skills to comply with the firm's productivity requirements. Wages also have a detrimental effect on low skilled workers while having a positive effect on welfare regardless of total education. The use of minimum wages is not limited to the promotion of education but it also intracts with other public policies.

Fair wages, involuntary unemployment and tax policies in the simple general equilibrium model

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine wages, involuntary unemployment and tax policies using the simple general equilibrium model. Results were verified by a comparison with the results of tax incidence. The results indicated that a reduction in equilibrium unemployment happens if the wage rental rate is increased by tax policy. This examination of the model is unique in the sense that the basic assumptions for perfect competition is ignored.
