Panic alarms help violence victims

Article Abstract:

Bank tellers, store owners and clerks are not the only ones who have gained benefit from the use of panic alarms but victims of domestic violence as well. This has led several corporations to issue wireless panic alarms to their employees who face personal threats. ADT Security Services started its ADT AWARE program in 1992 to address the issue of domestic violence. ADT AWARE is a joint effort between the company, law enforcement agencies and battered women's shelters. Through the program, ADT installs electronic security systems at the homes of victims of domestic violence. It also provides emergency pendants that activate the alarm within 100 ft of the house.
