Perspectives for transnational social policy

Article Abstract:

Transnational welfare policies may emerge under certain conditions. Welfare expenditures increased during the 1960s and early 1970s, but these expenditures have stabilized. Welfare states are both national and anti-international systems. A group of welfare states does not constitute a transnational system. A transnational welfare policy should stimulate the economy by increasing purchasing power and demand by serving the poor, the elderly, the disabled and people in remote areas.

Social justice in Europe: an evaluation of European regional policy

Article Abstract:

Political theorists have long been fascinated with issues related to social justice, particularly after John Rawls published his 'Theory of Justice.' However, theorists have neglected to follow Rawls' suggestion that normative criteria be adopted to assess the performance of political institutions. European regional policy is evaluated in terms of Rawls's normative criteria for the assessment of political institutions.
