Political ethics: the Nolan report

Article Abstract:

The negative reaction to the Nolan report on political ethics by some MPs shows how isolated some parliamentarians are from their UK constituents. Some members exhibited complete incomprehension of the concerns of ordinary citizens. The Nolan Report addresses aspects of public life that raise ethical and social concerns. These include MPs who work as consultants for companies that attempt to influence government policy.

The French strikes of 1995 and their political aftermath

Article Abstract:

The inability of France's socialist and conservative governments to generate reform is due to their failure to address increasingly complex social issues. As the global economy takes shape, the labor force will include a wider variety of employees from many different cultures and nationalities, which in turn will require a more democratic structure for labor-management negotiations.
