The biotech promise: lawmakers consider economic impact of growing industry

Article Abstract:

US legislators met in Boston to think about the economic potentials and benefits of biotechnology. The nature of the biotechnology industry depends on well-educated and highly-trained workers. Lawmakers exchanged views on what is needed to push the industry forward such as improving education, funding and forming multi-state partnerships.

Candidates for the 2008 U.S. presidential elections are proposing health policies that tackle issues including public funded programs, lower health care costs, and preventive care for chronic diseases. Health-related campaigns of Republican and Democratic presidential candidates are presented.
