The consequences of labor mobility for redistribution: tax vs. transfer competition

Article Abstract:

A fiscal competition model was used to analyze the relationship between tax and transfer competition with income redistribution based on the mobility of the rich and poor. The model explained how the mobility of the rich favors redistribution under transfer competition and mobility of the poor favors redistribution under tax competition. Results also showed that the balance in redistribution level changes when there is competition in tax and transfer jurisdiction.

Coordinating research through research joint ventures

Article Abstract:

The high costs of a patent race can be avoided by entering into a joint venture with other companies seeking to profit from the same product. Such agreements involve mutual sharing of research capabilities, and gradated investment opportunities, with each company's rate of investment determined by an neutral arbiter. The paper attempts to prove that companies can maximize their efficiency-profit ratio through these joint ventures.

Estimating the effect of tax reform in differentiated product oligopolistic markets

Article Abstract:

A framework for predicting the effects of changing taxation method in a differentiated product oligopoly, such as the automobile market of Israel, was studied. Using an alternative taxation method of per unit tax and tax based on engine size, the relative prices and quality of unit were affected by the change in the tax system. Results support regulatory use of the framework for tax evaluation.
