Foreign investment raises local wages significantly more than domestic investment but redistributes money away from public schools. US communities that bid against each other for foreign direct investment should consider this factor.

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates school and community characteristics compared to family and individual characteristics that may determine enrollment patterns in public or private schools. The composition of public and private schools are influenced by public policies such as school-district concentration, student-teacher ratio and violent crime ratio.

Political economy of the inequality in school spending

Article Abstract:

Several decisive factors that influence the unequal school resources in a state are presented. The political and tax system, legal status of education, and Tiebout-sorting of school locations based on variations in their financial standing, are considered as some of the numerous contributing factors to school spending inequality.
