The new Mary Bono

Article Abstract:

Mary Bono, widow of celebrity congressman Sonny Bono, has attracted extensive media attention since she was elected to her husband's Palm Springs, CA, seat in Apr 1998. Her political career has progressed rapidly, and she was one of the newest members of the House Judiciary Committee when it held hearings in late 1998 on Kenneth Starr's report to Congress accusing President Bill Clinton of impeachable offenses. She clearly lacks political experience, but this has been balanced out by her down-to-earth attitude.
