Article Abstract:

Pres George Bush's proposed cuts on the defense budget has alarmed both Republican and Democrat members of Congress. Members of Congress are worried that defense cuts could cost the jobs of their constituents. Senator John Seymour and 18 other Republican House members from California, upon learning of Bush's proposal to discontinue the production of the B-2 aircraft, wrote Bush to protect B-2 workers in Palmdale, CA. Critics of defense spending, on the other hand, urged more defense cuts and argued that the defense industry should be converted into a manufacturing industry.

Article Abstract:

The map establishing California's congressional districts as prepared by the late Democratic Representative Phil Burton will soon be changed. A group of retired Supreme Court judges was tasked to revise the map which would reportedly contain more competitive district subdivisions.
