The Medical Center of Central Georgia, a teaching hospital, was able to establish a profitable partnership with Medline Industries Inc., a linen supplier from Mundelein, IL. The partnership began when the hospital thought of reusing room linen to reduce expenses. This idea evolved into schemes that would earn revenues for the hospital, such as entering the sterile surgical pack market. The hospital's management decided to partner with a laundry firm to facilitate entry into its target markets. The partnership with Medline resulted in a service called Central Georgia Ancillary Health Systems. The firm offers sterile pack services, linen rental and waste incineration services.

Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co utilizes the team concept in its purchasing and supplier decision-making process. Through the team concept, Watlow has improved the quality of its purchasing process, which was originally done by the purchasing agent or buyer. Initially, the objective of supplier management by teams was to improve the quality of materials bought and to lessen costs. Some of the benefits of supplier management include improved information quality, more effective use of supplier resources, improved negotiations and decisions and improvements in products and process quality.
