An epidemiological approach to quality assurance in the hospital

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine the effectivity of an epidemiological approach to quality control in medical care. The study focuses on possible disadvantages in applying the methodology in hospital quality assurance and assumes that such techniques influence quality assurance testing and event perception. Results show that a vital understanding of epidemiological limits is necessary in setting realistic expectations of quality assurance.

Patient contribution to the design and meaning of patient satisfaction for quality assurance purposes: the psychiatric case

Article Abstract:

Quality in health services has come to be based on perceptual rather than objective measures. Patient satisfaction, once measured, may be incorporated into a quality assurance program. A procedure to develop and measure satisfaction directly from patients is described. An empirical study using the procedure on psychiatric patients is also reported.
