Community orientation in health services organizations: the concept and its implementation

Article Abstract:

It is proposed that community orientation is necessary for health services organizations to effectively manage community health. Community orientation involves the organizationwide generation, dissemination and use of community intelligence to understand and respond to the community's health care requirements. Community orientation can benefit health organizations through improved cost and quality outcomes, and easier management of accountability to stakeholders.

Developing interorganizational relationships in the health sector: a multicase study

Article Abstract:

The failure of health care organizations to make their interorganizational relationships (IORs) work may be traced to the deficiencies in commitments, planning, decision-making and credentialing of its member organizations. This has led to the re-evaluation of their management strategies. A muti-case study on IOR strategies demonstrates that decreasing ambiguity and uncertainty may enhance IOR development efforts.
