Five years and counting: the path to self-directed work teams

Article Abstract:

Roberts Express, a transportation company specializing in package delivery, launched in 1989 the company assistance teams (CATS) to expedite the company day-to-day operations. The move was prompted by customers, employees, and company partners' growing feeling that as the business was developing, there was an increasing feeling of impersonality towards one another. The CATS were composed of seven members from the different departments and were tasked to regain customer satisfaction. The first team managed to post an 8% increase in costumer satisfaction and a 9% increase in productivity, and at present, the company already has 25 such teams.

So you're the project leader: 10 roadblocks to watch out for

Article Abstract:

Project leaders of a company's manufacturing resource planning II system should learn to identify the 10 types of personality traits and the right approach in dealing with them. The evil naysayer is the kind of person who mounts opposition to the project leader most of the time, while the yes man is one who is hesitant to voice one's opinion because of lack of working experience. Such kind of team members should be put in a comfortable working atmosphere through communication and recognition of their individual achievements. The other types of personalities require different ways of motivations and approaches.
