How the industry operates

Article Abstract:

An analysis about the federal government's decision to provide better health facilities through funding, developing acute care hospitals which are tax empted facilities, bringing in required legislation for effective management of health facilities, introducing medical programs for the needy and the elderly, are discussed.

Congress passes Medicare Rx

Article Abstract:

The US Congress gives its consent for the new legislation, Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act, which is known as Medicare Rx. As per the provisions of the new legislation the prescription drug coverage is implemented under the federal government's Medicare program.

Current environment: managed care continues to profit

Article Abstract:

The upward trend in the health insurance premiums since 2001 is discussed. The increase in the prices of managed care plans, the consolidation taking place in the industry, President Bush's health policy and the rules governing the managed care organizations are also analyzed.
