How to apply microcomputers to occupational safety and health

Article Abstract:

In addition to the standard office routines, safety and health professionals are finding storage, access and analysis of report files opening up areas of research and services. The Safety Council has developed a microcomputer based accident-illness analysis system based on Knowledgeman, an IBM compatible data base management program. It can produce more than 70 different standard reports from the same data base.

T.C. "Chuck" Gilchrest named 25th Council president; at the 71st National Safety Congress

Article Abstract:

1984 National Safety Conference in Chicago featured professional development seminars for safety managers, exhibitions of industrial safety equipment and the election of T.C. Gilchrest as National Safety Council president. Thorne Auchter of OSHA and Ralph Nadar, consumer advocate, sparked a heated debate on the past policies and effectiveness of OSHA, differing mainly over the appropriate level of enforcement.

Who's looking after your vision safety program?

Article Abstract:

A California Industrial Vision Services survey of California companies shows one-third pay for vision examinations and two-thirds also pay for prescription safety glasses. The survey also showed that there is a variety of job titles for the person in charge of eye safety-visual efficiency programs. There is confusion about whether or not safety goggles are covered by the law.
