Juicing up the freedom trail: Boston partners break ground for a data highway

Article Abstract:

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Partners HealthCare System are planning to establish a computer network that will provide information links between the two networks' health care facilities. Partners HealthCare System is the alliance formed by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Salt Lake City: hospital giant gives longtime market leader a competitive nudge

Article Abstract:

The pending acquisition of Health Trust Inc by Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp would provide tough competition for Intermountain Health Care Inc, the largest healthcare provider in the Salt Lake City, UT, region. Intermountain owns the region's largest hospital, eight other hospitals and manages six health care plans. Columbia would gain eight hospitals in the area, plus the two it already owns, through the acquisition. Public health statistics for the four-county region are provided.
