Article Abstract:

Lee Memorial Hospital produces educational programs and in-service training programs using their own television production facilities. They also purchased an earth station to receive signals from satellites to supplement television programing for patients. In the future, satellite communication systems may deliver information to hospitals at a relatively low cost.

The light that failed: psychiatric 'deinstitutionalization' has betrayed its promise

Article Abstract:

Deinstitutionalization of psychiatric patients has not been successful. Many patients who were released from mental hospitals have not received necessary treatment, and often end up at hospital emergency rooms or in jail. Mentally ill patients can live successfully in the community, but decreasing government funding for has hurt community-based programs.

Security update, 1983

Hospital security programs have been improving over the last few years. Security covers both employee welfare and prevention of employee theft. Due to the economics involved, a good program is essential to the management of a hospital.
