Is anybody listening?

Article Abstract:

The development of good listening skills is essential in today's information age. Good listening skills are important because they indicate that one is interested in what others have to say, they motivate people to provide ideas, opinions and knowledge, and they enhance relationships. Barriers to effective listening include the brain's ability to process information faster than someone can speak, and the natural tendency for people to think of what they will say next as the other person is speaking.
