Oral care for institutionalized geriatric patients

Article Abstract:

If geriatric patients are able to chew their food properly it is easier for them to maintain their health and well being. If effective instruction techniques are used most patients can take care of their dental care needs. Nurse training programs and regular oral screening of patients is important to maintaining good care for the elderly patient.

The laws that influence labor relations in nursing homes are discussed. The National Labor Relations Board and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations are outlined and the legal aspects of the comparable worth doctrine are analyzed.

Animal facilitated therapy in nursing homes

Article Abstract:

Nursing home facilities are using animals to bridge the gap between patients and their therapists. This "pet" therapy is producing positive results. Careful planning is an important consideration for arranging to have animals available for patients.
