CEOs: planning next career move no easy task

Article Abstract:

Career advancement for hospital CEOs is difficult because of the strain of the job. Over 34% of CEOs polled in a recent survey stated that retirement will be their next career move. For others, the career path is less clear-cut. For hospitals owned by larger companies, executive positions within the holding company are possible. Other administrators opt to remain in hospital jobs as COOs and forego the more difficult CEO track.

Healthy investor interest in non-rated hospital bonds

Article Abstract:

Hospitals can obtain needed capital by selling bonds in spite of the lack of ratings by Standard & Poor's Corp or Moody's Investors Service. Institutional investors looking for tax-free high-yield bonds prefer unrated hospital bonds over those with less than investment-grade ratings. Some mutual fund managers may wish to inspect hospital facilities before committing to purchase of securities.
